Sharae Gibbs is the Founder and CEO of She Designs Creative Agency, LLC. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Savannah College of Art & Design. Sharae is also the Founder and Executive Director of The Women of Color UX Design Course; a program designed to accelerate women interested in breaking into the design and technology industry.
In 2013, Sharae began working as a Senior Design Consultant for IBM in New York. She has worked with some of the best design teams, from IBM and Citibank, to NBC and A Hundred Years. Through these experiences she has designed mobile apps, websites, and wearable technology.
In 2015, Sharae moved to the Bay Area in California to work as a User Experience Designer for Comcast Silicon Valley Innovation Center. While working at Comcast, she witnessed first hand the lack of diversity and representation of women at tech companies in Silicon Valley. This experience inspired her to create The Women of Color UX Design Course.
As an instructional UX designer, Sharae combines her passions for design and technology to develop curriculum. She currently works with startup companies through The Women of Color UX Design Course apprenticeship program. Her mission is to empower women of color by providing career development, mentorship, training, and hands-on experience.
Sharae creates community and impact that goes beyond The Women of Color UX Design Course. In 2019, Sharae was invited to speak on a panel at Google for International Women’s Day. The focus of the “Rise Up, Reach Back” panel was to highlight women who have led incredible initiatives, and created space for other women to succeed.
Sharae is passionate about educating women of color and helping them to develop confidence at a young age. In 2019, Sharae was selected to participate in Innovation Next, a grant program led by Power to Decide and IDEO to create a unique, technology-based innovation to decrease teen pregnancy.
In 2018, Sharae was invited to speak on a panel at Square, Inc., a financial services and mobile payment company. During this event, she shared her perspective as a woman of color working in the tech industry.
Beyond work, Sharae enjoys taking her dog to the park, mentoring students at UCLA, and spending time with friends and family.
